News from our Elementary Principal, Ben Voborsky
Hello GAA Community,
It has been a wonderful week at GAA. I am happy to say the weather is cooling down and our students are consistently getting outside! Can you please remember to send your student with a water bottle and hat so they can join in the fun in the sun.
The GAA house system and GEMS has been another successful community building endeavor. The Lions (Gold), Tigers (Orange), Jaguars (Red), and Snow Leopards (Blue) round out our four K-12 houses which will help us further strengthen the K-12 connections in our community. GO WILDCATS!
Next Wednesday and Thursday will be student-parent-teacher conferences. You should have already received the booking link, if not please check Seesaw and then with your child’s teacher. I look forward to seeing you with your child on this day.
Enjoy your weekend,
Ben Voborsky

Grade 1 News
This week the Grade 1 students celebrated the end of their ‘Who We Are’ unit by inviting their parent to the Grade 1 Health Fair. Students spent the last few weeks in expert groups inquiring into either exercise, healthy eating, hygiene or mindfulness. The students shared all they learned about how making informed choices enables us to have a balanced lifestyle. The families who visited the Health Fair left with a much better understanding of how they can make their own choices to live healthier. Great job, Grade 1! Please view some more photos here.

The word from the Library….
A love for reading and books is alive and well in the Library! So far already this year we have had a very successful Book Fair, run by the Bookworm company and a visit from Chris White, an author.
Thanks to the success of the Book fair we have been able to purchase loads of great new books. We just had a competition to see who would be the first to read the VERY popular 2017 Guinness Book of Records.

Chris White is an author from England who specializes in writing poetry and drawing his own illustrations. He spent 2 days in the GAA Library working with some Grade 3, 4 and 5 classes, teaching us how to write poetry and draw just like him.
Although some of us thought we weren’t very good at these things, we adopted a growth mindset and decided to be risk takers. The results were amazing and many of us are now motivated to communicate more often using poetry and our own imagination and creativity in art work.
News from our KG Vice Principal, Sally Potts
We have had a wonderful week in KG. Our community share's are filled with music, drama and learning. Thank you to our teachers and students for their dedication to sharing their pride. It is always so positive to have our parents in the audience. You may notice that some of our classes also join the audience. This gives KG students a chance to learn how to sit in the auditorium and be an audience. During the last few community shares, our children in the audience have been singing along with the presenters—a marvelous sight to behold.
Our team is looking forward to Parent-Student-Teacher conferences this week. Please take the time to sign up for you and your child to come to the school and celebrate the learning that has been happening. Your child will spend 20 minutes showing you activities in the classroom. The last ten minutes will give you the opportunity to speak with the teacher. Please remember to visit our specialist teachers who are located in our KG hall. You will see the many integrated activities that your child has probably shared with you at home.
As always, thank you to everyone for their support. Our first two months have gone by so fast!

Students are "taking action" all over KG2. Students have decided on living things they can care for from fish to vegetables. They have
identified things that hurt and help living things. Now we will take care of and maintain a healthy environment so our ³living things² can
grow and change. Our students are truly knowledgeable and caring for our friends.

KG Islamic
Asalamualaykoum,
We have spent a lovely time with our KG 1 students this month learning Surah-Alfatihah and the students were able to memorize it. The
students were also able to name their family members and understand their importance from an Islamic perspective and they understood
their duty towards their family members. They expressed their love for their family members through drawing pictures as an activity
during the class.
Our KG2 Students are now able to recite Surah-AlNasr and they recognized the importance of obeying and respecting their parents and they are also able to mention ways to obey their parents (Making Duaa, not raising your voice and offering them help in whatever they need).
Thank you.
Regards,
Mrs Jadees
