Dear Parents,
At GAA, we believe that advocating, teaching and respecting a diverse student body from cultures around the world fosters peace, justice and global understanding. This is the higher purpose of international education, to prepare our children as global citizens, to truly make a difference in the world. These beliefs also represent the very core of an American style education- developing the child as an individual while also teaching individuals to become a caring and responsible community.
When we teach our children to celebrate cultures, embrace diversity and advocate for their fellow peers, we truly establish a Culture of Kindness in a school; a culture that reflects our core values and philosophy of education.
In the coming weeks and months, you will hear about our school-wide goals that will help guide our social-emotional curriculum and programs aimed at teaching all students to be respectful, responsible and to be a learner at GAA.
We will communicate how our parent community can become involved and support our efforts in teaching our students at GAA how to live together with respect, care and acceptance of one another.
Stay tuned for more information about our upcoming Anti-Bullying Week.
Warm wishes for a wonderful Eid

News From The Cafeteria
If you would like your child to eat our catered school lunch, it is very important that you purchase the lunches online. Many students continue to pay in cash for their lunches, this increases the amount of time students spend in line queuing and also makes it difficult for Accuro our lunch provider to accurately provide the correct amount of food in the cafeteria each day.
Parents can pay online using their GEMS Learning Gateway username and password which was sent to parents on the 2nd September. If you do not know your username and password please email [email protected] To help you pay online, we have produced a step by step guide. Please click here to access this guide
In other cafeteria news, we would like to let you know that the bottled water is no longer included in the daily lunch program. We are trying to reduce the amount of plastic wastage and so we are now providing students with plastic glasses that can be washed and re-used each lunchtime. Students will be able to get a glass and collect water from one of the 4 water dispensers inside the cafeteria. We hope you will support us in his green initiative. Bottled water will continue to be available in the cafeteria at 1AED a bottle.

A Message From The Planetarium
Thank you to all the parents that came to the planetarium’s first community nights last week. We were completely booked up for both nights! Here is an image I took from the second night. It was great to see all the returning and new faces in the audience. I will be holding more community nights in October, so keep an eye on the newsletter for the announcements.
If you are interested, please check out my Facebook page. I post a lot of space and astronomy news. If Twitter is your thing, I am @GAAPlanetarium.
Thank you,
James Walker
Planetarium Director
