News from our Elementary Principal, Ben Voborsky
Hello GAA Community,
It was great to have so many families on campus for student-parent-teacher conferences. Our students demonstrated that they are confident, knowledgeable communicators. I love seeing our student taking responsibility for their own learning and sharing it with others. If you need any additional information regarding your child’s progress, please set an additional meeting time with your teacher. You are part of the educational team so continue to be involved!
I really appreciated all the positive feedback and the excitement around Seesaw. We are really moving forward as a positive rigorous community of learners.
Just a quick reminder that as the weather cools down to continue sending your child to school with a water bottle and a hat.
Enjoy a wonderful weekend,
Ben Voborsky

Amazing learning, inquiry, hands-on experiments, a-ha moments and visits by experts have been happening in 5A during our Sharing the Planet UOI! We had the wonderful opportunity to have an informative article on Renewable Energy written and shared by our parent, Mr. Amro Zakaria. Also, we had our parent, Mr. Mikkel Schlesinger, an architect for the Sustainable City of Dubai, come and share the concepts about building a sustainable school. The class was in awe to find out the city runs on solar power and produces its own energy, greenhouses have been implemented to help with growing organic foods, the use of gray water is recycled, the school is half indoors/outdoors and surrounded by local vegetation and trees. 5A went a little further by considering the importance of using renewable resources and conservation for future generations.
“The first Elementary Arts festival will be happening next week on Wednesday, November 16. Our Grade 3 students will be the first group to show our school community their amazing artistic skills by presenting Music and Drama performances as well as displaying a gallery of their art work. The central idea of their unit of inquiry was “The arts engage an audience and invite a response” and everyone in Grade 3 is hoping to invite a positive response from their performances! All Grade 3 parents are invited to attend the performances from 1:30-2:30pm and then participate in a special gallery walk with the Grade 3 students. Other grade level classes will also be in attendance. Looking forward to seeing you there!”

We had our Author’s Celebration, where the students had the chance to share their published books with the class. The students have been working on these books for six weeks in Writer’s Workshop. Then we toasted with some juice in celebration of our hard work. I am so proud of the students in KG2D!
