News from Head of School - Kathy Miner
"In Touch" Sessions
The last “In Touch” session with the Senior Leadership Team members last February was a big success. After the session, I made a commitment to schedule another similar event.
The “In Touch” session is a Parent Coffee event in which parents can choose among a number of table discussion groups. Every 20 minutes, everyone rotates in order to move through to the table discussions of most interest. School leaders facilitate an engaging discussion and take notes on chart paper to document the feedback and suggestions.
We would like to invite you to two sessions:
"In Touch" with our Arabic Team:
Date: November 20th
Table Discussions: Arabic language program, UAE Social Studies and Islamic Studies.
Parents will have an opportunity to meet most of our Arabic team and engage in discussion's about our Arabic department.
"In Touch" with our SLT (Senior Leadership Team and Coordinators):
Date: November 21st
Table Discussions: IB Diploma Programme, Secondary Programme, Elementary Programme, Kindergarten, Athletics and Activities and School Services.
Be sure to mark your calendar for the afternoon and check your email next week for more information regarding the "In Touch" Sessions. We value parent feedback and look forward to sharing ideas for improvement.

Kathryn Miner

Jonah Delisi will be representing GEMS American Academy in the Association for Music in International Schools’ World Honor Choir. This is the third consecutive year that GAA has had students chosen for the World Honor Choir, and hopefully the tradition will continue for many years to come!
Be sure to read more about this incredible achievement in Ms Banner's Article on the Secondary page.
WELL DONE JONAH!

GAA Yearbook
You can now preorder the 2016-2017 GAA Yearbook for just 250 AED (68.50 USD) until January 12, 2017! After January 12th, the price will increase to 300 AED (82.00 USD). This year we are ordering yearbooks based on how many people preorder, so make sure to order your book sooner rather than later. To order the 2016-2017 GAA Yearbook, use our Jostens’ online website designed specifically for GAA. Through the online website, you can also add cover customizations for additional fees.
The Yearbook Staff, made up of 11th and 12th grade students, is looking forward to creating the 2016-2017 Yearbook. Their goal is to have a yearbook that captures who they are as a KG1-12th grade student body. They want to design a yearbook that will serve as a time capsule for the 2016-2017 year and be used years to come as a trip down Nostalgia Lane.
This is the first year GAA is using the Jostens’ online platform, Yearbook Avenue, to design the yearbook. The program allows students to design pages, upload and edit photos, communicate to one another and the Jostens’ representative, and market the yearbook all from the one webpage—so anywhere Wi-Fi is available, the students have access to the program. GAA and the Yearbook Staff are very excited about all the possibilities Yearbook Avenue offers and to present the 2016-2017 GAA Yearbook in May 2017.
