Dear Parents,
Open communication enables us at GEMS American Academy to engage our parents as partners in understanding and meeting the needs of each child. We warmly invite you to connect, share and assist us in knowing how to best meet the needs of your child. Your children benefit from our partnership.
In recent weeks we’ve heard many positive comments about the strong start to the school year. With that said, we’ve also heard a few suggestions as well that have helped us to update and improve our practices and programs. In addition, we are committed to continuous improvement and initiated a number of changes ourselves.

With that said, we’ve also heard a few suggestions as well that have helped us to update and improve our practices and programs. In addition, we are committed to continuous improvement and initiated a number of changes ourselves.
- We have added some additional help in the back parking lot to better organize bus drop off and pick up.
- We have invited our food service provider to improve lunch offerings and to ensure quantity needed.
- We have redesigned the cafeteria line to improve flow and efficiency
- We have added some extra assistance in the KG classrooms
- We are revising our scheduling rotations to enable KG students to access more options in their access to our facilities.
- We have invited our cleaning service provider to improve the standard of cleanliness throughout the school
Thank you for your continued support. Please remember to email [email protected] with any of your suggestions. We will take them into consideration, your ideas and thoughts are important to us.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend

Harvest Festival News
Dear GAA Parents,
GAAPA has placed the Harvest Festival Bins for Grades 1 to 12 in the main reception and the Bins for KG1 and KG2 in the KG reception. The Bins will be removed on the Wednesday the 29th of October, 2014 These bins are intended for collection of Candy/Trinkets. If you do wish to donate Candy, please ensure it is individually wrapped and is nut free. Also, if you have not donated AED 20 to your room parents, and wish to do so, it is not too late. Please contact your room parent or your section teacher. This money will go to room parents and volunteers to buy the necessary arts and crafts materials/decorations that will be used to decorate the grade booths. Bake Sale Every year the Harvest Festival includes a Bake Sale which is a big hit and GAAPA's most important annual fundraiser that helps to not only make these fun and memorable events possible but allows us to do so at minimal or no cost to our GAA families. |
Once again we appeal to the generosity of our GAA parents to donate baked goods to make it a continued success. Cupcakes, cookies, brownies, pastries, pies, and sweet or savoury desserts of all kinds are appreciated. You can even make it fun by decorating them according to the harvest theme!
Items should be delivered to the Bake Sale Booth at 5pm on the day. Please contact Nagham Zeenni ([email protected]) or Brenda Oosthuizen ([email protected]) if you would like to contribute.
Thank you
GAAPA
