News from our Elementary Principal, Ben Voborsky
Hello GAA Community,
We have definitely cracked the half way point of the school year and want to finish the last four months just as strong as we started! Over the past week we have been re-emphasizing the routines that have kept GAA running smoothly. From our systems of behavioural management in the community handbook to friendly uniform reminders, our policy and procedures are important. We ask all our parents to check in with your child and ask them to review their classroom agreements with you. I was just reminded of all the classroom rewards I sprung for when 96% of our students returned the parent contract from their GAA Community Handbook signed. Please take another opportunity to review the handbook with your child. Then when you are sending them off in the morning make sure that the GAA tie is on and they are in complete uniform. We love it when our students take pride in their appearance!
Student-Led Conferences are coming up on March 16th and 17th. The timings will be the same as last semester and we will use the same conference booking system. What makes these conferences so special is that they are led by your child. Our students share their learning and learning goals with you. This style of conference, which is led by your child, puts them “in the driver’s seat of their parent-teacher conferences” and “creates opportunities for reflection, engagement, and agency”. Student-Led Conferences are about Empowerment and Ownership. Our goal is 100% turnout of students and parents. If you are unable to make the allotted time, contact your teacher directly to schedule an alternate time as these conferences are so important!
I look forward to seeing you at the Sport Carnival and Chili Cook off tonight from 5 to 7pm.
Enjoy your weekend,

Dear Parents,
Our KG students and team are looking forward to celebrating Book Week next week under the capable guidance of Ms. Le’Jon.
On Sunday, we are looking forward to seeing our staff and students dress up as their favorite character in a book!
KG classes have been decorating their doors to reflect a classroom favorite book—the winner will be announced at the end of the week.
Students will also have the opportunity to read with other classes, take part in a variety of literacy activities as well as listening to parent volunteers reading a favorite book.
I know that our parents love to read with their children. This partnership helps shape our learners into avid readers.
Have a wonderful weekend. Thank you as always for your support.
