Grade 2
During the How The World Works Unit of Inquiry in Grade 2, we have been learning about structures and how to build them. On this occasion we were exploring which shape makes the strongest column. They began by making a prediction. Most children hypothesised that the circle column would be strongest because they know that GAA is built with circle columns. The children were then given 3 pieces of paper and asked to roll or fold them into a circle column, a square column, and a triangle column. One the columns were build, the children stacked paper back books, one top of the other until the column buckled and fell. The children test each shaped column and reported their findings. As a class we combined our data and determined that the circle column is the first strongest, the square is the third strongest and the triangle is not a strong column at all. The children then discuss why this is so and they think it’s because the triangle doesn’t have an even amount of sides. The children also synthesised their knowledge and realised that they have never seen triangle columns in real life but they see circle and square columns often.

Dear Parents,
It has been a wonderful week in KG. I would like to thank all of the parents who worked so hard at our International Food Festival.
I am always so thrilled by how involved our KG families are in the life of our school.
We are very proud of our teachers and educational assistants. They work diligently with your child to develop their social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs.
Seeing our students paint, play, learn, dance, do gymnastics, write and draw as they learn who they are in the world is a pleasure to observe.
Thank you for being part of our school.

In KG1 H we have been very busy continuing to learn all about ‘Sharing the planet’. We have been comparing different plants and had great fun planting our own individual plants. Watching them grow and change is very exciting. We are learning all about the structures of a plant and the names of each of the parts. We are learning all about what plants give us and have had great fun looking at different fruits and vegetables and the seeds that are hidden inside. We are enjoying being little gardeners taking care and being responsible for our plants.
This week in KG2 we have been "Going Further" and finding ways to care for plants, animals, and other living things. How we can care for the planet by recycling and not contributing to pollution. Students have had the opportunity to write "All About" books where they are the expert on certain topics they choose. Their writing has grown so much! In math we are creating addition word problems and math sentences. Next week we look forward to "Making Conclusions".
Students in KG2A are learning about living things. The children have constructed mini shelters for a variety of animals and they have been practicing their addition skills too.”
KG Physical Education
After a fantastic sports day, KG1 & KG2 have just started their Gymnastics Unit. We are so excited for students to progress with their gymnastics skills.
Take a look at our student’s first lesson of gymnastics, which focused on balancing.
KG1
For the KG1 students they were exploring with different balances that they could hold on 1 foot and to be able to hold it for 3 seconds.
