News from our Elementary Principal, Dan Trimble
Dear Parents,
It’s the end of our 2nd week already and it’s been full of exciting experiences and learning. I have been very impressed at the level of understanding our students have of procedures and expectations for students at GEMS American Academy. After our quick break this weekend we will be ready to “hit the ground running” for week 3.
After such an eventful and amazingly smooth beginning to the year, I feel that I must state my appreciation for our staff publicly. The whole staff at GAA, who work tirelessly to provide for the needs of our students and each other, are the hardest working people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. I’m not in bad shape, but I have really had to push myself physically to keep up with the energy at this special school.
Thank you parents for all the positive comments and encouragement that you have shared with me and my staff. It makes all the difference in the world.
We love what we do and are very grateful for your trust in us.
Don’t forget that Back to School Night is Sept. 27th from 5:30-7:00
MAP testing starts next week for grades 2-5. This is only one form of data that we collect to meet the needs of our students.
Helpful hints from our Elementary Leadership Team.

KG Corner
KG1A is enjoying their new classroom and exploring all of our engaging learning centers. We are looking forward to a year full of fun, inquiry, and discovery!
Our first few weeks in KG2A have been so much fun! We have all been making friends and learning each other’s names. We have been focusing on sharing and taking turns with our classmates during group activities. We are also learning to become more independent by unpacking our school bags at the beginning of the day and writing our names on our pieces of work!
