Dear Parents,
We are listening …And responding
Thank you to those of you who participated in the Parent Survey which was sent to you last November. I have spent considerable time analyzing the results in order to develop goals for continued improvement. The survey will be sent to parents who have not yet provided responses again in February. At GAA, we see the Parent Survey as an opportunity to gain feedback and perspective and respond seriously to the feedback provided.
In analyzing the results of the initial round of responses gathered in November, I organized the responses ranking highest to lowest year-over-year change. This means that leadership, satisfaction and effective communication, for example, rank highest in improvement.
Parent Survey Data
• Effective leadership - 40%
• Satisfaction with overall experience - 39%
• Effective communication - 39%
• School provides clear learning objectives - 37%
• Value of tuition fee - 33%
• Would recommend school to a friend - 29%
• Happy with child’s progress - 27%
Overall, the results were very positive. In comparing to our sister schools in the GEMS family, GAA ranked higher in a number of response areas. Although our results were very strong overall, we will focus on reducing negative responses in three specific areas. Below, you will see three goals based on our results:
Question #4, “Parent satisfaction with their child’s progress.”
Although leading the combined score of our sister schools indicating high parent satisfaction as compared to our benchmark schools, this area remains an area of growth for GAA.
Question #6, “Parent satisfaction with the quality of teaching that supports their child’s learning”
This is a question that addresses the perception as to whether instruction is differentiated and personalized to meet each child’s needs. Although GAA’s parent satisfaction in this area is high as compared to our benchmark schools, GAA would like to move parents’ responses from the “disagree” and “strongly disagree” to the “agree” range.
Question #7, “Parent satisfaction with the school’s efforts to set clear learning objectives for their child.”
Although GAA has a parent satisfaction score that is slightly higher than our benchmark schools, this is an area for growth with the goal to move more parents to the “agree” range.

On Saturday I am off to the USA to join Ben Voborsky at the International Recruitment Fair held in Boston Massachusetts. I will return to GAA on 10th February, with more great new teachers to join our already strong faculty. 84% of those teachers whose two year contacts are coming to a close, have re-signed to return for the 2015/16 school year. We are thrilled as this means continuity in curriculum instruction and program for our students.
Have a lovely weekend
