News from Head of School - Kathy Miner
Happy New Year and Welcome Back to School!
We hope you have enjoyed a wonderful winter break with friends and family. GAA Faculty & Staff are excited to be back in session and with our students again.
Our busy school schedule continues as we begin 2017. Be sure to read our newsletter for upcoming events and activities.
As you can see, our scaffolding project is finished. The damaged caused by the wind and rain storm from March 2016 is finally complete and we are thrilled to see the façade of our beautiful school restored. We thank you for your patience with us throughout the work project.
Foggy Weather Conditions
ADEC has advised schools to inform parents that, for everyone’s safety, when the visibility in the morning is poor due to fog, they can delay going to school until it is clear and safe to drive. In this case late arrivals will be excused.
Students travelling by bus: In the event of poor weather conditions, BBT Transport will notify you by SMS early in the morning if bus delays are expected.
From our experience the density of fog varies from area to area with some areas in Abu Dhabi being more affected than others. We ask that parents carefully evaluate conditions near your home and make the necessary decisions to travel.
We appreciate your support as we work to ensure the safety of our students, parents and staff.
Feedback from our November In Touch Sessions
We hosted two parent feedback “In Touch” sessions in November and enjoyed speaking with our parents in table discussion groups on various topics, gathering important feedback from our parents on areas across the school that are going well as well as suggestions for further improvement.
Below is a brief summary of the topics discussed. If you were not able to attend the event, please be sure to pass on any feedback you may have for us to Naseera Timm-Holland, who will add your comments to this list. Our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) are working to address the areas highlighted to continue to refine and improve our programs and practices. Thank you for your participation!
