News from Head of School - Kathy Miner
Dear Parents,
GEMS American Academy is looking forward to celebrating UAE National Day. The school will be closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, December 1st through 3rd. School will resume on Sunday, December 6th.
To commemorate this special occasion all students in KG through Grade 12 will attend special UAE National Day Assemblies to be held on Sunday November 29th, featuring a school play on the history of the union and information and facts about the UAE and its culture and heritage. They will then have a scheduled time to enjoy a special heritage fair on the school field.
We would like all students and teachers to wear either the UAE traditional dress or the colors of the UAE flag.
Parents are encouraged to come to school and enjoy our celebrations too. Please remember to wear your parent ID. Family members who wish to attend the celebration with you must present security with identification and collect a visitors pass.
Please come to watch the school assembly and attend the heritage fair at the time your children are scheduled to be taking part. The schedule as well as a list of activities can be found below:
We will also be serving traditional coffee and Dates in the main reception for parents to enjoy.
Happy National Day!

Gate Security access
The safety of our students, and the GAA community as a whole, is our greatest priority. Please review our campus security procedures. Your cooperation and compliance with our security procedures help us to ensure a safe school environment for all.
Gate Access:
To gain access to the campus, you must have your GAA Parent ID Card. If you do not yet have a GAA Parent ID Card, you can register by handing the Security Guards a valid ID (Emirates ID, Labor card, Driver’s License, passport) and receive a Visitor Card.
At 5:00pm, the KG front gate will be locked for the day. The tennis gate and back gate will be locked at 7:00pm. Visitors entering the school after hours must go to the front gate and register with the guard using the same process described above.
We would like to thank you for your cooperation.

- The security guards have the right to ask all visitors and parents to present their GAA Parent ID Card or obtain a Visitor Card by presenting a valid ID. We ask that you comply with this request.
- Please wear your ID card at all times while you are in the school premises.
- For those with a Visitor Card, please exit using the same gate you entered in order to collect your ID and return the Visitor Card.
- During Pick up and Drop off times, all of four gates are open. From 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, all school gates will be closed/locked and you will only be able to enter the premises from:
- The main reception front gate
- The gate behind the tennis courts at the back parking lot

*If you do not have a parent ID please email a photo along with your child's name to our PRE at [email protected] and we can have one printed. Please insure that we have both parent's details on our system as this is a requirement for printing. There are still a number of Parent ID's that have not yet been collected. Parents who have either emailed their photos or uploaded them onto the GLG are encouraged to visit main reception to check if there ID's are ready.
GRADE 1 Reminder
The Grade 1 classes would like to remind parents and caretakers that class is dismissed at 2:55pm. Please do not enter the Grade 1 hallway before 2:55pm as this hallway congestion interferes with the bus-riding children traveling to the bus waiting area as well as students returning to classes from last period specials in a timely manner. We appreciate your cooperation to ensure the safe dismissal of your children.

Has your child lost something at school? Misplaced water bottles, lunch boxes, uniforms, swimming gear, school books and more can be found in Lost and Found center under the staircase of the main lobby. On the last day of school, unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity. If your child is missing an item, this is the place to look first!
