Dear Parents,
This week I took the pinky pledge along with our elementary staff and students to prove that I am an up stander. For those that aren't familiar with the terminology, an up stander is someone who stands up for others and protects the safe respectful environment that we like to call our culture of kindness. Thank you to all teachers, parents and students for taking part in this week's anti-bullying campaign. Scroll through the newsletter for more related pictures and stories.
I would like to introduce our new Manager of School Operations, Mr. Nikos Sprachis. He joins us from the GEMS World Academy Dubai with significant experience and expertise in managing school operations. He will be taking charge of all school contracted services such as transport, cafeteria, facilities and school safety . If you have any questions or concerns related to these areas Nikos can be reached at [email protected].

If you haven’t had an opportunity to connect, Kathryn Reynolds is our Parents Relations Executive and can be reached on [email protected] We have had feedback that parents have ideas and suggestions that they would like to share with us. Be encouraged to email Kathryn with any of these comments as she will pass these on to the correct department. You input helps us to grow and improve.
On Tuesday 21st at 9.15am in the auditorium Dr. Rola Shaeen MD FRCPC will be giving a seminar to ladies in our community regarding women’s cancer. If your schedule allows please come to this event. I have been told she is an inspirational speaker and that you will find the seminar very insightful.
The Harvest Festival is a family event that has been organized by GAAPA and the room parents. It will be held on Thursday 30th October. This is an excellent opportunity for you to meet other members of our community and make connections with other families. I know a lot of work is being put into this event and will be a great evening out.
Have a restful weekend.

Anti-Bullying Week @ GAA
A big thank you to all those who worked hard to bring Anti-Bullying week to GAA again this year. Every October, schools across the world join together to focus on bullying prevention. At GAA our goal is to foster a culture of kindness where students feel safe and happy in their learning environment. We are committed to this cause. and we are joining other schools in working to prevent bullying.
This week GAA hosted a number of activities aimed to increase awareness and appreciate diversity including, poster competitions, in class activities and the pinky pledge organized by GAAPA. Students and staff had their pinkies painted blue to show they have taken the pledge to stand up against bullying! Josh Doubleday even organized for the Virgin Radio Dubai team to take the pinky pledge!
