News from our Secondary Principal, Craig Randall
Dear Parents,
Last Thursday, June 2nd our young men and women of the 12th Grade walked across the auditorium stage and received their High School Diplomas at the completion of the Graduation ceremony. It was a special evening for all of our graduates and their families. The evening was filled with entertainment from our school band and choir; the speeches filled with humorous moments and sage advice for our graduates. A fine celebration of the achievements of the GAA class of 2016.
Congratulations seniors, we are proud of you!
Congratulations senior parents for the accomplishments of your children. Thinking about graduation has caused me to reflect on the 2015-2016 school year at GAA. In some ways it seems like yesterday that we were welcoming in new teachers and students at the beginning of the year. It has been a year of tremendous progress in the secondary school. I know our teachers have worked very hard to improve in their teaching and to make the year special for your children. Among other milestone accomplishments in the Secondary School this year has seen our first IB Diploma Graduates as well as our 8th graders completing Middle School before they move on to High-School where grades count towards the University application process.
I think back to all the fun events and activities over the course of the year, events like our International Food Festival and Fall Festival. I think about the amazing progress we have made with our sports teams, clubs and after school activities. I remember the joy of attending our plays, musical concerts and the Secondary Arts Festival. I think back on fantastic experiences the students had on their Ecoventure and Spring Break trips. We also had all of our fun “Days,” Pink Day for breast cancer awareness, Sports Day and the ever popular Pi Day for all of our math fans.
I thank you parents for all for your support in helping our students grow as students and as people over the course of the year.
Regards,
Craig Randall

News from our Math Department
Dear Students and Parents,
Please note that all High School students (Grades 9 to 12 for 2016/17) are required to own and bring an approved graphing calculator to every mathematics class. For your guidance I have attached a list of the approved and prohibited calculators. The
TI Nspire (non CAS) is highly recommended
Recommended for Middle and High School students: The Mathematics department would also suggest reviewing concepts and skills over the summer – just like sports and music, our talents and abilities are at their best with regular practice. Please follow the below link and refer to the table contained therein.

Note: Intro to HS Math and Business Math are not offered at GAA. While these packets are not required, they will help make next year all the more successful and easier.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact the Curriculum Coordinator at [email protected] or the Math Department Coordinator Ms. Sami at [email protected].

Ms. Farah Sami
