News from our PYP Coordinator, Mike Hopaluk
On Thursday morning, students from 3D and 5D shared some of their recent learning. The Grade 3 students shared some of the Fractured Fairy tales they have written and then they explained how the use of simple machines has changed over time. In Grade 5, the student shared what they have been up to in the current PYP Exhibition unit. They explained their issues, lines of inquiry and some of the action they have been planning. Make sure you come by the GAA lobby and mezzanine on May 3 & 4 to view the final sharing of their PYP Exhibition learning
The Community Share was completed with the celebration of the students who received a Star Student award this week for their demonstration of PYP attitudes and/or IB Learner Profile attributes.

News from our KG Vice Principal, Sally Potts
Dear Parents
It has been another wonderful week in KG. As the weather gets warmer, please remember to send your child with a hat and water bottle. We carefully monitor the temperature to ensure that our students get a healthy balance of exercise while making sure that they are safe.
Soon we will be spending more of our time indoors where the teachers and educational assistants have a variety of activities ready for the children to play.
Our KG promotion will be happening on May 22nd, 23rd and 24th. We split the nine classes into three different days so that we can celebrate with our families. Next week, we will be sending you the specific date for your child’s class so that you can plan to attend. We are looking forward to a wonderful celebration of learning!

KG Corner
This week in kg1 we were Tuning In to our central idea "light and sound are all around". We paid a visit to our Planetarium were we discovered that it was really dark and could not see anything. We were all Thinkers as we discussed different ways in which we could see in our very dark room, and we inquired in our homes and in class for objects that can help us to see. We returned back to the Planetarium with our light sources where we discovered a tent under a starry sky. We also played a game in which we had to use our knowledge of sounds to guess what object our teacher had hidden. We finished by watching a movie with our firefly friend who explained some natural light sources in our sky, such as the sun.
We look forward to having more inquiry into light and sound in our coming weeks!

Our curious scientist in KG1G have started exploring into our final unit of How the World Works. We are tuning into the sources of light and sound that we see in everyday situations. We will interact with light and cause a change as then unit progresses.
KG 1F
KG2H have been having so much fun with our current unit ‘How The World Works’. We are exploring different materials and their properties. We had to build a structure that could withstand water, and then wind. We tested them, and then reflected with our partners, discussing what we would do differently next time. Be sure to ask us about all of the different experiments we are doing, and check out see saw for videos of us testing our structures in water!
KG1 students are exploring where sound is and how it is made. We are learning that sound is everywhere and we can find music all around us!
