News from our Elementary Principal, Ben Voborsky
Welcome back GAA Community,
The moment your children have all been waiting for is upon us; The First Day of School! All GAA teachers, educational assistants, and support staff have everything in place to receive your child for a positive and productive 2016-2017 school year. I truly appreciate their effort to facilitate engaging learning environments for our students; thank you!
The GAA Senior Leadership Team came together in early August before the arrival of new and returning teachers to set the trajectory for the school year. Coming off a strong 2015-2106, we agreed to stay the course and continue to grow the identified priorities from last year. The priorities were updated so we get better everyday; continuous improvement. The priorities were also reordered.
As you are aware, GAA received an Outstanding rating in the Care, Support, and Guidance of Students in our Abu Dhabi Education Council Inspection Report. As an SLT, we agreed that ensuring our students are socially and emotionally happy is the key to their success and the first priority for GAA.

We thank you for supporting this and modeling the GEMS Culture of Kindness with all members of our GAA community.
One exciting development this year is the launch of Seesaw. Seesaw will be your tool to get a glimpse into your child’s learning as well as the primary K-5 communication tools. There will be many parental engagement sessions over the course of this school year on Seesaw and as well as many other topics. Virginia Ingle will be championing parental engagement in our K-5 program this year. Thank you Virginia!
I invite you to the “get to know you” sessions on the first days of school. Our goal is to introduce you the GAA PYP program as well as our Elementary Leadership Team. One of the reasons these sessions are staggered is to assist with the flow of GAA community members in and out of our facility.

These will be short introductions; basically a get to know you session on how we would like to partner with you in order to enhance your child’s educational experience at GAA! Please mark your calendar, as we will really get in depth on KG-G5 Elementary Back to School Night on September 19th.
Save the Date: Back to School Night K-5 is on September 19th
Remember to send your child with a water bottle, a hat, a lunch (or money), and a memory to share from summer vacation!
We look forward to partnering with you throughout 2016-2017!
Best regards,
Ben Voborsky
