News from Head of School - Kathy Miner
Dear GAA Parents,
Thank you for your support and participation this week with our various musical performances. This has been a fantastic week filled with performances every evening showcasing student talent. I am just amazed by our students; they are such confident performers!
Next week we will be holding our first GAA Graduation Ceremony on Thursday evening honoring our Senior Graduating Class of 2015.
The next few weeks will fly quickly by with a number of activities and events that mark the close of the school year.
Yearbooks will soon be distributed. A huge thank you to our GAAPA Chairperson Maha Younes, who once again, has designed and edited the GAA Yearbook. This is a beautiful edition and will serve as a memorable keepsake documenting the year of learning and growth.
Tuition Fees for 2015-2016:
There is a possibility that tuition fees may increase for the 2015- 2016 school year.
Schools may only raise tuition fees once every three years. GAA has not raised tuition fees in last four years. As announced in January, we have applied for a tuition fee increase to help offset increased costs for staffing, operational and facilities upkeep. Such fee increases are subject to ADEC approval.
ADEC determines the rate of tuition increase. We are not able to anticipate the percentage increase that ADEC might approve. It is also possible that ADEC might not approve an increase at all. I understand that ADEC typically notifies schools with a decision in June or July. In checking with ADEC, we hear that a decision will be released shortly.
I understand that many of our parents are trying to make financial decisions for their families and need this piece of information. I will share tuition fee information with our parents as soon as it is available.
Regards,
Kathryn Miner

“A shoutout to Mum and Dad"
Over the past two weeks the GAA students and teachers have shared musical events, plays and community share items. During these events we have been testing a livestream service so that those of you who may be unable to attend an event can still see the event live.
The testing has been very successful, with more than a hundred online viewers joining our live audiences for some events.
We expect to continue this service next year – and will advertise the permanent links so that you can see performances and special events live from wherever you are in the world.
Of course there is nothing like being in the auditorium and witnessing a live performance, but with work commitments, international travel and the reality of extended family living in different parts of the world, GAA is making an effort to reconnect our community through technology. With this livestream service, you (and your extended family) can view student performances and events regardless of circumstance or geography. All you need is an internet connection and a device – phone, iPad, laptop or desktop.
Here are some links to past events:

Please bear in mind that we have broadcast these events as tests to determine our capacity to deliver this service. During the next phase of development we will focus on audio and visual quality and the post production editing to deliver the best archive of events that we can.
More information will be shared through our parent communication system and through The Launcher.
Please feel free to review some of the events and share your feedback regarding this service.
