News from our Elementary Principal, Ben Voborsky
Hello GAA Community,
Student Led Conferences were very well attended this week. It was great to see all of our parents and their children enjoy the sharing of learning and progress. The book fair was also very popular, with some fantastic resources to engage students at home. Teachers were very positive as well; especially when they see their students presenting so confidently and articulately. Daniel Trimble and his partner, Carol, were also in attendance. As Dr. Kathy Miner announced last week, this year will be my last at GAA and Daniel will be assuming the role of Elementary Principal next school year. It was nice to be able to introduce him to our student, parents, teachers, support staff, and get him familiarized with our learning environments and school culture.
Spring break is just around the corner! But first, enjoy your weekend!
Regards,
Ben Voborsky

Grade 1 Arts Festival
On Monday afternoon, First Grade celebrated their Arts Fest in the auditorium. Students presented dazzling dances and amazing art which reflected different ways we celebrate around the world. Our central idea was “Celebrations are an opportunity to reflect and appreciate cultures and beliefs”.
Throughout the unit, student inquired into how to be reflective and open-minded in the way people celebrate around the World. Students were also inquiring into these learner profiles by practicing their performances with Ms Caitlin over the course of many weeks and with Ms Kathy, they were exploring a variety of art materials and patterns found in many different cultures. After the performance, students led their families on an artwalk. Well done Grade 1 !
