News from our Secondary Principal, Craig Randall
Dear Parents,
Parent/Teacher/Student conferences are coming up soon so mark your calendars. On Wednesday, March 16th conferences will run from 11:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. On Thursday, March 17th conferences will run from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. All secondary conferences take place in the gymnasium in an open concept just like we had in November. This means all the teachers are at tables in the gym, with table name tags and a map clearly marking where everyone is located.
We suggest you work your way around the room from teacher to teacher. If you see a teacher is busy, there are one of two options, wait until they are free or go see another teacher and come back to that teacher later. We suggest that conferences will normally run for ten minutes and thank you in advance for being cognizant of the time and respectful of other parents wanting to speak to the same teachers.
This will be a great opportunity to check on your child’s progress, celebrate achievements and possibly look for ways to improve performance. We strongly encourage you to bring your child to attend the conferences with you. We find that having teachers, parents and students together lead to the most productive conference meetings. Counselors and administrators will be available in the gym as well. We look forward to seeing you on the 16th or 17th of March.
Lastly, for families who have been at GAA prior to this year, you might notice that the conferences are earlier this year than last year. The reason is related directly to the fact that we now have soon to be graduating IB students who begin taking their final exams on the 2nd of May. Having conferences earlier allows parents and students to gain a clearer picture of progress and potential needs while still allowing enough time prior to the start of IB exams for students to concentrate their efforts most effectively.
Regards,
Craig Randall

Dear parents and guardians,
The Prom Committee would like to formally notify you of an upcoming event that has been planned and organized since the beginning of the school year.
Prom is a high school tradition that celebrates not only the success and completion of high school education, but also the transition into the next part of our lives. Thus, the students of GAA are highly enthusiastic and excited about such an event, and we are thrilled to announce that Prom will take place later this year. We are working hard to ensure a memorable experience, and we hope every student invited can participate and enjoy this celebratory occasion.
This year’s Prom will be held at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, Abu Dhabi on the 26th of May, 2016. Please be aware that this event will be supervised by chaperone teachers to ensure safety and responsibility.
This event is made possible through the purchase of tickets at the cost of 400 AED, and fundraisers held throughout the year. We welcome and appreciate any further donations by parents. We would also like to acknowledge the help from GAAPA and Booster Club, and thank them for their unconditional support.
Should you have any inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact our Prom Committee Advisors via email:
Ms. Alexandra Fatu: [email protected]
Ms. Kamila Shakarchi: [email protected]
Warm regards,
Prom Committee
