News from our Secondary Vice Principal, Tim Fryer
Dear Parents,
At grade level meetings this week, subject awards were presented to those students with the best performance and the most improved in each course. We also recognized the student in each grade who showed the best turnaround from semester 1 to semester 2 with the wildcat victory award and presented the grade level citizen award to the student who made a significant contribution to the grade and school community.
At our whole secondary assembly on Wednesday, we presented awards to those students who best exemplified the IB learner profile traits in the middle school and the high school. We also recognized the overall grade level students of the year and the overall middle school and high school students of the year. Our graduating senior class received awards at the senior breakfast. There were difficult decisions in many cases and we congratulate all recipients, whose names are attached.
Best regards,
Dr. Tim Fryer
Secondary Vice Principal

From our Arts Department
Last week Wednesday evening was the final instalment of the secondary school concerts for 2014/15 and presented by Mr Holland’s students. The evening featured performances from the grade 7 ensemble, grade 8 ensemble, chamber wind ensemble, brass ensemble and piano soloist Jin Park. The grade 6 composition class introduced recordings of their work and the evening marked the official launch of GAA’s very own Big Band.
Each of the concerts were streamed live on the internet and watched by families and friends across the world in real time.
A huge thank you to the students, staff and parents for supporting this event and encouraging the ongoing growth of the arts at GAA.

News from Student Council..
It’s been a busy week in secondary, with the Red Crescent Nepal collection coming to an end, we are proud to announce that donations reached around 3000 dirhams.
The GAA Giving Tree is now ready and will be located in the foyer from next week with all your messages of hope.
Thank you so much for your support.
Student Council teamed up with GAAPA and contributed towards the ‘Workers lunch’ that took place on Tuesday. Students showed their appreciation by setting up the tables with a feast of delicacies and serving the workers of GAA as they serve us every day.
It was a moving occasion to see our students contributing in such a caring way and this was clearly reflected in Naseem’s opening speech who is our grade 11 student council member.
