News from our Acting Elementary Principal, Sally Potts
It is hard to believe that it is the first week of June. Our term has passed by so quickly. Thank you to our school community and staff for their support of our students as they worked to finalize projects and assignments.
Our staff are writing report cards for our students that share the learning that has taken place at GAA. The staff is also in the process of planning for the upcoming school year during Ramadan. Early morning meetings are allowing our staff to create new learnings for our students when they return in the fall. It also ensures a smooth transition for our new staff and students.
Your family is important to our school community. We know that many of you are making Ramadan and summer plans. Should you need to leave early, I would ask that you communicate with your child’s teacher and myself. A gentle reminder that report cards can not be issued if library books have not been returned, replaced or paid for. Classes are fully planned until the last day of school and this is an opportunity to consolidate the learning that has taken place this year.

As the temperature has been heating up outside so have the students of Grade 3G. For our Writer’s Workshop, students have been inquiring into expressing their emotions through poetry. They have examined how a poet’s voice and pacing can change the meaning and images portrayed in their writing. In doing so, they published some of their favorite poems onto Spark Video. These were viewed, throughout the school, during 3G’s Virtual Community Share. For our Unit of Inquiry, How We Organize Ourselves, students have been investigating into how local and global trade impacts humankind. Here they can be seen making goods, out of materials they ‘bought on the global market,’ into products that will be sold in a classroom market.

Greetings from KG1C!
What an amazing week last week was with field trip and book fair. The students had such a wonderful experience on their trip and made so many connections to our light and sound unit. They were little scientists and explored all day.
We are excited to wrap up our final unit and begin to recap on our math and language curriculum before vacation. It has been wonderful to see the progress they have made this year and to begin the prep for KG2!

Can you believe the time has flown and the KG2’s have already had their Promotion Ceremony?
KG2C showed excellent skills during our KG2 Promotion and sang a beautiful song to their parents.
Good luck in your ventures to First Grade!

We have spent a lovely time with our lovely children in which we prepared for the blessed month of Ramadan, the students showed their happiness and excitement about it through some Nasheeds and classroom activities. Our students in KG1 are now able to recite Surah Al-masad and they understand the five pillars of Islam and importance of each of them. Our KG2 students are now able to recite Surah Quraysh and they know the manners of riding the car and the importance of making Duaa’ to follow in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.
