Dear Parents,
We are hearing your voices and would like to address your queries directly regarding the use of facilities in the Kindergarten program. We understand that it is important to you that your children have access to certain areas of the school during the day. We are trying to balance access to the wider facility with the depth and quality of learning for KG students. Remember when small feet are moving around the school, quality lesson time is missed.
To meet your requests we have made the following changes:
- All Classes will have 2 cycles (1 cycle is 6 weeks) using the gym for their physical education class
- In addition to the 8 weeks of swimming lessons all KG students will receive this term, we will be adding a further 6 weeks of swimming lessons in the last term.
- Now the cooler weather has arrived, KG students are taking advantage of having classes out on the school sports pitch to learn the rules of cooperative games and refine gross motor skills
- Some specialist lessons will also take place as an outdoor activity
We have also increased the amount of students performing at the community share so students have more opportunity to be on stage developing their performance skills. To do this we have changed the Community Share schedule to the following:
November 26th– KG1 ABCDE
December 17th – KG2 ABCDE
January 28th– KG1 FGHIJ
February 25th – KG2 FGHIJ
March 25th – KG1 ABCDE
April 29th– KG2 ABCDE
May 27th– KG1 FGHIJ
June 24th – KG2 FGHIJ
KG students spend at least one of their learning blocks per day in the KG Kitchen, Library Oasis Room, swimming pool, auditorium, planetarium, or indoor and outdoor play spaces.
The KG students appear happy and settled this year. They are looking deeper into their learning by having resources at their fingertips in the classroom and extended time on creative learning through play and applied skills. KG thinking and learning has grown through experiences from last year and this change in thinking has allowed our department to continue to improve fostering a positive community of learners within a tremendous culture of kindness and acceptance of one another.
GAA classroom and single subject teachers will continue to enhance the strong, vibrant, and supportive KG community. Thank you for your support and understanding. We look forward to further enhancing student successes, creativity, and fostering a sense of community for our KG students.
Warm Regards
Kathryn Head and Ben Voborsky

Primary Years Program News
IB PYP Learner Profile Of the Month
What is an IB PYP School?
It is a school that, regardless of location, size or constitution, strives towards developing an internationally minded person.
What is an internally minded person?
It is a person who demonstrates the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.
The aim of the IB PYP is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.
IB PYP Learners strive to be inquirers, communicators, caring and more in their goal to become internationally minded.
In conjunction with our Culture of Kindness, we are keen for our students to develop the IB Learner Profile, inside and outside of the classroom. Therefore we would like to ask our parents to support our goal and encourage your child to develop these attributes. Every month, we will be posting ideas in the newsletter that you can share with your child to develop their IB Learner Profile. If you have questions about the IB Learner Profile, please do not hesitate to speak with your classroom teacher or the IB PYP Coordinator, Sofia Lyons.
