News from our KG Vice Principal, Sally Potts
This has been a wonderful week of celebration in the Elementary school. Our KG2 students had special promotion ceremonies over three days this week. Families had a chance to celebrate with their little ones in the auditorium as they collected their certificates and then had their photos taken in the photo booths. Today was a very special celebration for our grade 5 students. Their graduation was a chance to share their learning and their accomplishments as they leave Exhibition and Grade 5 behind them and move into middle school.
It is these times of celebration that we treasure at GAA. A chance to look back at the solid relationship between our families and our school and reflect on how far our students have come (and how much they have grown). Thank you for your ongoing support of our “Culture of Kindness” combined with a rigorous approach to learning. We are very proud of our students, our staff and our school.
A reminder that Ramadan begins on Sunday. Students will be engaged in learning with our staff all throughout Ramadan. This is our final month in which we wrap up our curriculum and help students reflect on their learning journey this year.
Regards,
Sally Potts

In KG2 we are eagerly starting our new unit of “How we Organize Ourselves.” In this Unit we take a look at spaces, the purpose of spaces, and how to care for spaces. Several classrooms are already taking action. Students have been asked “What makes a good classroom?” Students identified several things that would make a good classroom such as library, I-pad area, no-bake kitchen, rollercoaster, and climbing wall. After ideas were generated discussions were had whether these ideas were likely or unlikely. All the furniture was taken out of the room and students decided how to put everything back. They supported their decisions with persuasive writing. Students are now enjoying their new classroom set ups. They have learned and discovered new ways to apply math and reading into their everyday lives. They do this by creating posters for how to care for each area, creating recipes (measuring and “How To” writing), and coming up with their own games.
This week in KG2 we also celebrated our promotion. Be sure to check out photos on SeeSaw. Thank you for a wonderful year of hard work!
