Islamic Inventors Day
Last week GAA hosted the first Islamic Inventions Exhibition to highlight student learning about Muslim scientists whose inventions contributed to development of human civilization. This inaugural exhibition in Abu Dhabi was presented by grade 9 students with other grade levels attending. They felt proud of their ancestors’ inventions which enlightened the world during the middle ages. Some of those inventions are still used today.
As a result of this event, students have become inspired to be like their ancestors. It is these kind of projects that help develop critical thinking and research skills, presentation skills and provide the opportunity for students to gain self-confidence. All in all a terrific day! Thank you Mr. Gofran and the entire Islamic and Arabic Department for your planning of this event for our students.

Sports Day
This week students in grades 6-10 have participated in our annual Sports Day. Sports Day gave students the opportunity to be outdoors and engage in a number of fun physical activities including tug of war, net ball, soccer, ultimate frisbee and an obstacle course to name a few. I particularly enjoyed watching the teams compete in the tug of war! Thank you to the PE Department for their outstanding planning of this large undertaking and for our many teachers who participated and supervised. Great day for everyone!

100 Days of Being a Freshman
On February, 14th at 7.45am we will hold our very first "100 Days of Being a Freshman" event. This is a celebration for our grade 9 students in their first year of being in High School.
To celebrate this milestone, we will be providing a light breakfast for our Grade 9 students. During the breakfast, our Freshmen will make wishes for their future and these will be made into a collage that will be framed and hung in our High School. The school intends to showcase the collage at their graduation and/or prom in 2020.
